Update on the Earthquake benefit for Puerto Rico

Good Afternoon,
At this time I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who participated in the fundraising effort for the Earthquake Benefit for Puerto Rico. We are grateful for the generous monetary donations received and for your time involved to make this a great success! After expenses, we had $6,000 to help those in need in Puerto Rico. We could not have done it without your help!!
Presently, we have a Western Region Puerto Rican Council (WRPRC) member in Puerto Rico assessing the current situation. He has gone out to identify those most in need. The WRPRC member has joined a group of volunteers who are donating their time building small wooden homes for Puerto Ricans living in tents. He has informed us that each structure has a window and a door and takes only one day to build. The cost for materials for each home is approximately $1900. When completed, the house is then placed on the home owner’s property.
We have sent the $6,000 donation to our council member in Puerto Rico to purchase ALL the materials to build these homes to help those families who are in need of shelter.
Furthermore, El Club Puertorriqueño de San Francisco has donated an additional $2,000 to help feed the volunteers who are building these homes and to assist them with gas and any other incidentals, and/or to help the neediest in the community.

2020 Earthquake benefit for Puerto Rico The Western Region Puerto Rican Council (in collaboration with sister clubs) is organizing a benefit for Puerto Rico at Club Puertorriqueño de San Francisco. We are deeply affected by the current devastation in Puerto Rico and ask for your support in our fundraising efforts. The WRPRC invites you to our fundraiser event to enjoy music and dance.
