2016 WRPRC Scholarship Program
The Western Region Puerto Rican Council, Inc. (“WRPRC”) promotes and contributes to higher educational opportunities in the form of scholarships to high school graduates, GED recipients, college students, and college graduates of Puerto Rican heritage who are or will be attending a regionally or nationally accredited college, university or vocational school.
The scholarships are funded cooperatively by the WRPRC, private corporations, and supporting individuals dedicated to the preservation of Puerto Rican culture and the education of our community. Students of Puerto Rican heritage who are high school graduates, GED recipients, college students or college graduates and are pursuing some form of higher education are encouraged to apply.
SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
1. Applicants must be of Puerto Rican heritage/ancestry.
2. Applicants must be a graduating senior, GED recipient, College student, or College Graduate who is planning to attend an accredited public or private University or College, Community College, or approved Technical/Vocational school.
3. Scholarship Requirements:
4. Your application must be written legibly or typed, filled out completely, and MAILED to the WRPRC Scholarship Committee. For your scholastic records, schools will follow their standard administrative procedures and forward transcripts to the WRPRC Scholarship Committee (no exceptions). It is your responsibility to ensure that the WRPRC receives your transcripts before the dead line. Incomplete applications will not be accepted or considered. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SIGNED & DATED. (no exceptions)

6. California students will be given priority
7. Applications, supporting documents such as Letter of Recommendation, Transcripts, Letter of Admission, Etc. MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN May 1, 2016.
Awarded scholarship recipients will be notified via mail and/or email and recognized at the Dia de San Juan Festival onJune 18, 2016, at History Park in San Jose. In order to receive the full scholarship amount, the recipient and/or a family member of the recipient MUST attend the awards ceremony and accept the award in person and on stage. The scholarship recipient's admission to the Dia de San Juan Festival is complimentary. By accepting the award, the recipient agrees to have his/her name and home town published in our marketing communications in print and/or the internet.

- “C” average verified via transcript (no exceptions)
- "Official" Transcript - (unofficial transcript will not be accepted)
- Must provide proof of current college enrollment or college letter of acceptance
- One letter of recommendation that demonstrate leadership and character (Family recommendation letters will notbe considered.)
- Proof of Community Service
- One typed essay (see scholarship application for details)

Congratulations to our deserving scholars and future leaders. Everyone who attended this year's El Dia de San Juan Puerto Rican Festival 2015 should be proud to know that they contributed to the higher education of these young Boricuas. The primary mission of our Festival is to be a Fundraiser for our college scholarships. This year, the WRPRC decided to honor the award recipients by having the awards ceremony front and center so everyone could share the experience.
