The Western Region Puerto Rican Council was established to provide regional leadership and advocacy for the Puerto Rican Community within the western region of the United States.

Since 1972, the Council has promoted cultural, educational and socio-economic programs that enhance the status of Puerto Ricans in the western region of the United States. The Council is an umbrella organization with its primary base in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

As part of the Council goal to promote the culture of Puerto Rico, El "Día de San Juan” Festival - Scholarship Fundraiser was started in 1978 in the Bay Area and remains part of the area's signature events today.
